About Us

No. 2235 (Deal) Squadron Air Training Corps is one of 34 Squadrons and within the County of Kent known as Kent Wing. Kent Wing, in turn, is one of 6 wings within London and South-East Region based at Royal Air Force Northolt in north-west London.

2235 Squadron has its headquarters at The Cinque Ports Drill Hall in Hope Road, Deal. The Drill Hall was built in 1878 for the 5th Cinque Ports Artillery Volunteers which were raised in preparation for invasion by the armies of Napoleon from France.

Luckily that invasion never came but Deal has seen its fair share of action, being in the front line of home defence in World War II. Deal Castle and the drill halls of Deal being the home to artillery guns for anti-aircraft use or for defence of the channel coast should the invasion have come.
